Mister Yeoh Has The Class

3 minute read

The Cliff Brown trained Mister Yeoh has drawn off the track, but is still very well placed in Sunday's Group 3 Silver Bowl [1400m].

Rock solid in both starts to begin this preparation, Mister Yeoh finished third behind Bold Thruster in the Group 3 Rocket Man Sprint [1200m], before finishing third in the Group 1 Lion City Cup [1200m].

While no match for either Aramco or Lim's Cruiser, his performance in defeat was still solid and leaves him very well placed tonight.

Mister Yeoh has never missed the money third up and has won two of three attempts over 1400m.

The return to his own age is a big push under the set weights conditions, as no question, he brings the best form.

From the wide draw expect Michael Rodd to be fairly aggressive as he won't want to concede them a start by going back.

His main asset is his class edge, so to maximise this, Rodd is expected to take the race by the scruff of the neck.

We saw jockey Ben Thompson adopt these tactics when Mister Yeoh won the Group 2 EW Barker Trophy [1400m] at the back end of last year.

Currently rated 101 by Timeform, he is already an up to scratch winner of the feature event, while a majority of his rivals need to go to another level to get there.

Will need his fair share of luck, but if he gets it, he is sure to be very hard to beat.

The Lee Freedman trained Circuit Mission hits this on the up and while some query dropping back in trip, he is more than capable on best form.

A slow build for Freedman, Circuit Mission brought up the hat-trick last start, when too good leading throughout over 1800m.

Already a winner over this trip, he is sure to be rock hard fit and should be able to adopt a prominent position from the inside draw.

On career best form he has a fair bit up his sleeve and while yet to reach that level since transferred to Singapore, he certainly has a big engine when right.

The Michael Clements trained Quarter Back faces his stiffest test, but is on an upward spiral and has to be respected.

A winner of five of his 10 starts, he has won his last three straight and should be aided by the step up in trip.

The much in-form Vlad Duric links back aboard and he should get a lovely run from the inside draw.

Whether he is up to the likes of Mister Yeoh remains to be seen, but he certainly deserves his chance.

Of the rest his stablemate Eye Guy  has to be included.

A game performance to finish second in the Group 3 Moonbeam Vase last start, he only looks to have to repeat that level of performance to be right in the finish again.

Enjoy what should be a great race - good luck and happy punting.
