Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for Australian TAB meetings on August 8.
Five TAB meetings are held across Australia on this Thursday at Kembla Grange, Kempsey, Warrnambool, Mt Isa & Pinjarra.
Kembla Grange: Race 3 @ 2.15pm
Foxy Free went fast on debut and is the likely leader. GET HITCHED (5) was scratched from Canterbury on Wednesday to be saved for this. Had just one run in the maiden prep and was beaten 4.2 lengths in the G2 Reisling over 1200m at Randwick in March. Team Hawkes clearly has a high opinion of this filly to have thrown her to the wolves in that way. Trialled nicely at Rosehill recently and looks well-placed for a winning return. MAISAA (2) is also a chance returning from a spell. Filled minor placings at both runs when last in work in 1200m races at the provincials. Has definite claims if she picks up where she left off. SUPER OASIS (3) last appeared when safely held in the G2 Sweet Embrace at Randwick on 2 March. Won a recent Warwick Farm trial so looks ready for a bright return. NATURE (1) is best of the rest. SELECTIONS: #5 Get Hitched to prove too smart.

Kempsey: Race 3 @ 2:10pm
Alshahhad expected to lead at a reasonable gallop. LORD AVATAR (11) commenced a very wide run before the corner then kept coming to finish 3rd over this distance at Taree last start. Progressive gelding with three placings from five starts now and third up today looks ready to break through. OHCHEBELCAVALLO (7) wasn't suited dropping back to 1012m last time out but made significant late ground to finish 3rd in an eye-catching effort. Likely to go forward from the wide gate today and will be hard to beat. ALSHAHHAD (2) had his first run for new trainer Neil Godbolt recently over 1000m at Taree but couldn't quicken and finished well back. Placed twice over this trip last prep when trained at Lindsay Park so expect sharp improvement. FEED THE SPEED (5) is another ready to improve second up. SELECTIONS: This looks perfect for #11 Lord Avatar.
Warrnambool: Race 8 @ 4:30pm
The tempo should be okay, but not clear cut the lead. MURLESS (5) resumed in much stronger at Flemington and wasn’t far away after getting back. He gets Meech today and can push forward and sit handier. Expect him to improve again on the career peak. KILLAVALLY (2) won the Maiden by 8L on the synthetic on debut as the market expected and then raced favourite again in stronger at Flemington and had a tough run. John Allen goes on and a bounce is on the cards. CHORTOMIC (1) won twice and then missed a lip this grade at Casterton. He will be round the money in a bit harder. CORONEL (9) can improve again third-up and can fill a slot. SELECTIONS: A tricky day with rain and a deep track. Backing #5 Murless in a good contest.
Pinjarra: Race 5 @ 5:20pm
Thankyou Very Much a likely leader. MANHATTAN MONEY (8) is an improver peaking off a near-miss at Belmont in a strong form race. She draws handy and is the one to beat briefly freshened. INDIAN CHANT (1) won a trial and placed here resuming. He has more to give and is a genuine hope pushing forward. GALIBA (9) will race over further but rates well and brings a good trial. She draws low with a claim and no surprise if she’s more forward this time around. THANKYOU VERY MUCH (5) was good on debut and owns a sharp trial for his resumption. He needs to be kept onside. SELECTIONS: #8 Manhattan Money is ready to strike.
