Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for Australian TAB meetings on September 3.
Three TAB meetings are held across Australia on this Tuesday at Moruya, Newcastle & Ballarat.
Moruya: Race 5 @ 3:40pm
First Courier and Whispered Prayer may be the ones to make the pace. CONFIDENTIAL (7) didn’t have much luck in town and then missed a lip here this trip 16 days ago. Gets the big weight drop in this grade and high stable-striker McDougall is reunited. Not sure the rail advantages, but expect him to go close all the same. O'PRINCESS (3) brings three dominant wins on the Canberra synthetic in stronger grade. She has to show she can repeat those performances on the grass, but she gets a firm track and every chance to keep the wins rolling. FIRST COURRIER (5) didn’t have the best of it third-up at Kembla, but was tracking well prior. Is up from the mile but has placed 3/3 the trip. THUNDER ROAD (6) also deserves consideration. SELECTIONS: #7 Confidential needs a good ride but gets a good hoop and has the figures to take this out.
Ballarat: Race 4 @ 3:00pm
Streets of Suemori may be the one to lead. KAMIEN (1) demonstrated good ability the first preparation and resumes as a gelding owning a Cranbourne trial win. He looks ready to go and expect him to go on from this. STREETS OF SUEMORI (12) ran a good figure on debut and can only be improved. The wide gate is the query, but the scratchings help. BACKPEDAL (10) debuts from a low gate with Kah booked. Profiles well and keep safe. ALASAAYEL (8) resumes for Team Hayes with the blinkers applied first time. She should come back improved. SELECTIONS: Looks a good resumption point for #1 Kamien.
Newcastle: Race 6 @ 3:55pm
Aytobe, Estroverto and Redjina will roll forward but the pace looks moderate only. ESTROVERTO (4) worked home well when he obtained clear running to get up for 2nd last start over 1300m at Hawkesbury. Rated best last prep when he got out to a mile and further so the step up in distance today is a big tick. AORAKI (3) got back to last and didn't run on as hoped when resuming over 1400m at Kembla last time out as short-priced favourite. Expect a far brighter performance today with the blinkers going on. AYTOBE (2) made it three minor placings from as many runs this prep when he closed strongly and was only beaten 0.6 lengths over 1400m at Newcastle recently. Cherry-ripe today and sure to play a prominent role. MONSTROSITY (5) has drawn poorly but could surprise off a 40-day freshen up. SELECTIONS: #4 Estroverto is ready to win.
