The Christmas Handicap is the highlight on the Morphettville program this weekend.
In that race, nine of the field from the City Of Marion Stakes are backing up here and it was a bunched finish so we'll go away from that race.
Lagerfeld has been running in good form through the Spring including a solid effort on Cup day at Flemington.
He was solid again at Moonee Valley recently and getting back to the 1200m is a much better option.
Happy to be on him sitting up on the speed and running a race from there.
Even allowing for the big weight, reckon Meli Melo must go close now out in trip in Race 5.
She ran very good races over staying journeys last season and then first up was a cracking effort here.
She then never really got into the finish of the Ballarat Cup but was not beaten all that far.
Remember she takes a run or two to get mobile but going off that resuming run, may well be ahead of schedule.
With a top rider on, she could very well be a nice each way play. Would love a drop of rain but we know that isn't happening anywhere soon.
