Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for Australian TAB meetings on January 21.
Four TAB meetings are held across Australia on this Tuesday at Wagga, Werribee, Warrnambool & Cairns.
Wagga: Race 2 @ 2:00pm
The Senator will go straight to the front and set a reasonable tempo. ALMIGHTY GOLD (8) had been working up to a win and it came last start over 2000m at this track, kicking away in the run home after travelling in the front pair all the way. Back in trip but has enjoyed a four-week freshen up. Looks the winner again. THE SENATOR (7) led into the straight but kicked back well once headed to be beaten just 1.2 lengths over the mile here last time out. Fitter now after three runs back. Hard to catch if he escapes with a couple of cheap splits up front. DEFY (9) drove clear late for an impressive win over this course and distance recently. Up in class today but does get a little weight relief. Cannot be ruled out. SHINSEKI (4) is racing well without winning. Each-way claims. SELECTIONS: #8 Almighty Gold to be too good again.

Warrnambool: Race 3 @ 4:10pm
A few are capable of leading, but doubt they will run along hard. FLINTOFFKING (11) jumped to this trip second-up beaten a lip at Werribee. He will use the low gate and looks very-well placed to win in this line-up. TRADING STOCK (7) toughed it out well at the mile on debut and is sure to have come on. Gets John Allen and it’s hard to risk the yard. CENTAINES PORTRAIT (8) brings a string of placings with the latest 5 days ago. Needs some luck pushing forward from the wide draw, but shouldn’t be far away again. TANGO GOLD (12) will be fitter and can make improvement at the middle distance. SELECTIONS: Flintoffking look a bet each way.
Cairns: Race 6 @ 5:50pm
Divine Service can lead again. DESERT COWBOY (2) won by a big space this track and distance and then got much too far back at Townsville from the wide gate beaten 1.4L. Draws to box seat today and can bounce back into the winners circle. DIVINE SERVICE (4) won at Townsville 19 days ago in a welcome return to form. Has the speed to manage the wide gate and is a chance to repeat. ROCK SPUR (5) was just beaten by the above in that race and was equally good this track the one before. Hasn’t won for an age, but can’t be ruled out. LUSHAN (6) brings a good figure from Townsville and also deserves consideration using the rail draw. He’s won six of his seven races at Cairns. SELECTIONS: #2 Desert Cowboy looks to have an edge.
