Today’s Horse Racing Tips – 7th February 2020

3 minute read

Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for Australian TAB meetings on February 7.

Racecourse : Canterbury Park (Australia)
Racecourse : Canterbury Park (Australia)

Seven TAB meetings are held across Australia on this Friday at Canterbury (night), Walcha, Moonee Valley (night), Wodonga, Esperance, Port Lincoln & Canberra.

Canterbury: Race 8 @ 9:45pm

Tikkitala should lead unopposed. TIKKITALA (13) was back in form when a dogged 2nd over 1000m at Wyong last time out. Drops 5.5 kgs after the claim and his best form comes at 1100m so he can easily go one better. Also accepted at Walcha today so the decision to come here is a strong leg-up. PERIGORD (5) parked just off the pace then was far too good over this evening's journey at Gosford recently. Rarely puts in a bad run - sure to be about the money again in a race decimated by scratchings. TAKOOKACOD (9) hit the line strongly to grab 2nd in open company over 1000m at Wagga last time out. That run followed a 33-day let-up so can improve. PRINCE MAYTED (8) could surprise at odds. SELECTIONS: #13 Tikkitala to win the last.

Walcha: Race 6 @ 4:30pm

Cocky Rocky will run them along. FRIENDLY VENTURE (5) made it two wins on the trot, both over this distance, when she stalked the pace then quickened impressively to score with a bit in hand at Muswellbrook last start on a soft track. Raising the bar at each run this prep - an in-form mare with a great chance at the hat-trick with Ryan sticking. ALCHERA (7) is a chance first up from a spell - has won fresh in the past. Draws the coveted inside gate and is nicely in after the claim. HEY DUDE (6) failed in a Highway last start but his efforts prior to that were very solid. All his good form comes at today's trip so expect him to bounce back to form. ZAPLUCK (10) is in the mix off a 37-day let-up. SELECTIONS: #5 Friendly Venture to win again.

Canberra: Race 6 @ 4:50pm

A race with not a lot of early speed. CLASSIC GAMING (1) belted home first-up to win the Maiden at Beaumont (Newcastle) heavily-backed and then was beaten 1.8L at Kembla in stronger than this and had excuses as favourite. He draws low and is one that can race handy. In a leading national yard and is clearly the one to beat. CANYONERO (2) will be very competitive at best and prepared to forgive his last two efforts. Wasn’t beaten far without luck at Gosford 22 days ago and he looks well-placed with Sherry’s 2kg claim. YOUR KNUCKLESHIP (5) didn’t have the late speed second-up over the short sprint and 1300m looks the right progression. He won’t be far away. CYBORG (4) impressed winning the Maiden here resuming and is capable of building on that. WAR DECK has ability and may be presented more forward this time around. Capable of surprising. SELECTIONS: #1 Classic Gaming is on the up and looks a best bet on an excellent Friday program.

Port Lincoln: Race 6 @ 6:40pm

Knotted and Storm Voyager can make the speed. FEARLESS AL (8) improved again missing the hat-trick by a nose as favourite. Gets the weight drop in stronger and looks capable of returning to the winners list. DOCTOR DOOLITTLE (4) seeks the hat-trick third-up and keeps getting better. Runs along and is sure to threaten. A gap to KNOTTED (3) won the BM 70 at Ceduna and is an on-pacer who shouldn’t be far away at odds with the claim. STORM VOYAGER (9) draws wide but has been freshened and is worth keeping onside. SELECTIONS: #Fearless Al each way to knock over the favourite.

Moonee Valley: Race 7 @ 9:30pm

Big field for the 955m which is always a scamper. Pressure should be on throughout. LEITER (3) has been given time since his return run where he was trapped wide and working before pulling up lame. Not beaten far and had plenty of excuses. Like that he has been given time since then and thinking that he remains a fairly promising horse. ZOUMANOR (8) is racing really well and should be around the mark again with even luck in running. Also on the fresh side for this and Flemington run last time rates well. FIGHT (4) resumes. Will get out over further than this but did run well behind Remastered fresh last prep and that ties in with Zoumanor. DEPLOYS ALONE (10) and BURNING THE CLOCK (9) are other chances in a race that runs deep with chances. SELECTIONS: Multiples around Leiter.
