Sydney Specials: Rosehill - 21st March 2020

3 minute read

Hopes and prayers are required for Rosehill on Saturday and it's not in regards to everyone remaining corona free (though I obviously hope we do).

One of the better bets of the carnival lines up in the Group 1 Galaxy, however he still might not gain a start.

The Team Snowden trained Cosmic Force sits as the first emergency and looks luxurious odds at $7 (I can't believe it).

An impressive winner of the Roman Consul Stakes (beat home Standout), he wasn't disgraced in the Coolmore, before returning in a big way last start in the Fireball.

Giving weight away to all of his rivals, he worked home very well to finish second and whichever way you slice it, it was fast, very fast.

He returned the 3rd fastest L600m of the day and the fastest L400m and L200m.

Having undergone a minor tie-back surgery, he has clearly returned in great order and appears extremely well placed.

Thrown in with just 50kg (50.5kg probable weight), he rates clear and have him marked the $3.50 favourite.

The stable won this race under similar conditions with Russian Revolution in 2017 and 3YOs have certainly had the edge.

In the last 20 years, they have won seven (35%) while providing just 24% off the participants.

Please please gain a start! At the price, you will struggle to have many better bets.

SHADOW HERO winning the Mostyn Copper Randwick Guineas

I swung the wrong way in the Randwick Guineas, Castelvecchio had never beaten Shadow Hero previously (0/3) and the ledger remains the same post-race.

Seven of 13 come through the Randwick Guineas and all things being equal, how do they turn the tables?

Sure a number will improve stepping up to 2000m, but so will he.

Do respect the Kiwi visitors, but the improving track only further enhances Shadow Hero's claims.

He returned the fastest 800m, 600m, 400m and 200m of the race, plus the only horse on the day to go quicker late was Cosmic Force (11.66 > 11.67 L200m).

Surprised better than 2-1 is being offered about his chances, expect him to start inside 6/4 ($2.50) tomorrow.

He's airborne, he'll win again.
