Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for May 8.
Goulburn: Race 2 @ 12.50pm
No obvious leader in a race that lacks much early pressure on paper. MISS KEIRA (9) returned from a 21-week spell with an eye-catching 2nd over 1200m at this circuit last start, making up significant late ground after coming from near the tail on the turn. Beaten narrowly second up over 1400m at Kembla last prep - that form is very strong for a race like this. ADMIT IT (1) only warmed up when the race was all over when 5th at Nowra over 1100m in an encouraging debut last time out. Far better placed today over this distance so can improve sharply. POST FREE (10) has not raced since doing his best work late to get up for 3rd over a mile at Wagga 39 days ago. Should be prominent in the run while fresh with blinkers on for the first time. Expected to run well for the in-form Danny Williams stable. LATERAL MISSILE (8) was strong through the line over 1200m here last start and is open to plenty of improvement. SELECTION: Very keen on #9 Miss Keira.

Gold Coast: Race 5 @ 2:22pm
Conquer and Hostages Of War can run them along from Joliette and Class Of Royalty. JARHEAD (12) had no luck in a strong form race and then came to this trip and won the CL3. He should have the speed to manage the wide gate and will be hard to beat in light with the claim. SEENTOOMANY (1) came from the back improving again beaten 1L at Ipswich and races as if the extra trip will suit. She looks capable of making the finish. JOLIETTE (4) has won the last four for the Waller yard well-backed and will push forward. This looks a bit tougher but he has to go in. KIRIANA (8) comes to peak and shouldn't be far away. JOYMAKER (7) peaks off an improved effort at Doomben and also has claims. SELECTION: #12 Jarhead has the figures to win and just needs an efficient ride.
Coffs Harbour: Race 5 @ 2.50pm
Ramrod to take up the running at a good clip. SALSA DREAMING (4) indicated a win was just around the corner last time out when he made late ground to get up for 3rd over 1500m at Muswellbrook. Very fit after four runs back and should have no trouble with the step up in distance. THE TIMEWARP (10) followed a big maiden win over 1400m at Armidale two runs back with a closing 2nd over the same course and distance last start at Class 2 level. Back in grade today and looks to be crying out for the mile now. LADY WAHOO (8) appreciated getting to the mile when runner up at this track recently. Been a while between drinks but she looks to be back on track. CHARGEMENT (2) found the line well at the end of 1500m at Port Macquarie last time. Good each-way prospects. SELECTION: #4 Salsa Dreaming is a terrific each-way bet at around $6.50 in early markets.
Port Augusta Race 6 @ 3:35pm (AEST)
Fulton Street is quick early and can lead. FULTON STREET (1) improved again placing at Gawler and is very well suited at this level. He will control the race and the 3kg claim is very handy. Has won 2/3 here and the David Jolly stable has a whopping 41% strike rates this venue. CHARLTON (2) has switched yards and was last seen 23 days ago placing distantly over 2200m at Geelong. The low gate advantages and he's a player if he's on song and handles the sand. SPIEGEL GROVE (3) would be right in this at best and looked in need of it resuming at Gawler. Thrives this track and trip and expect sharp improvement. HARDINGTON (5) may be best of the rest. SELECTION: The stars align for # 1 Fulton Street.
