Sydney Specials: Randwick - 4th July 2020

3 minute read

Always wary when a meeting looks too straight, but quite confident on a few angles at Randwick on Saturday.

Both Travest and Outback Diva appeal on the bare form, just a touch concerned on their expected speedmaps.

Travest is clearly the best horse in the opener, but he'll need to be if he is likely to get back to last in a race with little speed.

Outback Diva falls into a similar boat, though you are getting a few rolls better about her chances ($2.70 Vs $4.20).

Of the two she appears the better gamble at the price, however I am interested to see what price they bet about Travest, it's a terrible map, we could get a lot better and hence I'll likely be playing both.

In the sixth event the Team Freedman trained Elaborate appears well placed to return to the winner's circle off the back of some solid form.

An eye catcher late behind Terwilliker two back, he again ran well when bumping into the progressive Mount Popa last start.

While safely held (2.5L), he beat the rest by 1.8L and looks to be airborne.

Big watch on Victorian visitor Tigre Royale, however Elaborate looks set to relish the step back up to 2400m and should get into a lovely spot for Nash Rawiller.

Always happy to stick with stayers when they get in the 'zone', they invariably hold their form and he should prove hard to beat.

Have him marked the 2-1 favourite and hence a bit of fat in the early price.

In the eighth event the James Cummings trained Handspun also appears well placed, following two solid efforts to begin this prep.

A narrow third first up behind Adelong, Handspun proved a touch unlucky last start when finishing third behind Monegal.

Just didn't get clear air at the right time there and can atone from the good draw on Saturday.

The in-form Tommy Berry takes over and there looks to be good speed up front, which should give every horse their chance

She's never missed the money over this trip and should be able to settle closer this time around.

When assessing Timeform weight adjusted ratings, she rates well and while I do have healthy respect for both Cristal Breeze and Rari, she should prove very hard to beat.
