Sydney Specials: Rosehill - 11th of July 2020

3 minute read

Rosehill proved a happy hunting ground a few weeks ago and fairly confident we can strike again on Saturday.

The Mark Newnham trained Fulmina did the job for us last start and see no reason to jump off on Saturday.

A winner of three of her eight starts, she has shown good improvement and gives every indication she'll relish the step up to 2000m.

Lines up against the boys, but appears very well placed and comes into this off a new career peak.

Always nice catching a horse on the up and on the bare form her ceiling appears a lot higher than her rivals.

Looks to get a lovely run from the draw and with even luck, suspect she is too strong again.

While a heavy track winner, the improving track should also aid her chances.

With close to 2-1 being offered about her chances I thought she was easily the best bet of the day.

I will admit when acceptances came out I was ready to launch into Kordia until I saw the dreaded Synthetic Hoof Filler first time.

I'll still likely play, but it certainly has dented my confidence.

In the opening event the Team Hawkes trained North Pacific appears well placed to make a winning return.

Thrown into the deep end North Pacific certainly held his own when finishing third behind Farnan in the Silver Slipper.

The raps were big going into that and he certainly creates all the interest on Saturday.

Given the sole trial in the lead up (03/07), he found the line nicely and looks in good order for his return.

Takes on five last start winners, but all things being equal he looks a cut above.

The biggest danger on Saturday may actually be the inside draw, the map doesn't look ideal.

Koby Jennings takes the reins and is currently striking at 20% (137 rides) when combined with Team Hawkes, he'll just needs a touch of luck.

If able to get him into clear air, he should have too much for these.
