Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for Australian TAB meetings on July 31.
Four TAB meetings are held across Australia on this Friday at Goulburn, Wyong, Geelong & Rockhampton.
Geelong: Race 3 @ 1:30pm
Speculative how the large field settles in the run. BLONDEAU (10) is well-bred and didn't have much luck resuming here as favourite. He'd come off a solid run in a Group 3 and has plenty up the sleeve. He is in a top yard and will win this comfortably getting close to his best. CRIMINAL (11) brought strong form to resumption and was luckless off a wide gate. Gets the rail today and can make sharp improvement for the Freedmans’. HINTO BLUE (5) resumes for Dabernig-Hayes off a low gate and will be further improved. He will race over further but no surprise if he's presented forward this time around. ATOMIC ROCK (2) debuts for a sharp yard and has trialled well. He's sure to have ability but the outside gate is against. SELECTIONS: #10 Blondeau gets his chance in this line-up with the extra fitness.

Mackay: Race 7 @ 3:35pm
Early pace right across the barriers in the feature sprint with Inquiry and Fratellino candidates to lead. DOCTOR ZOUS (4) won at Doomben first up and then had no luck there before racing handy and winning comfortably in the Rocky Open. He has the speed to manage the sticky gate and can make the double with a leading hoop going on. FABULONH (13) is a stablemate who has missed a nose the last two at the Sunshine Coast. His numbers stack-up and he gets a 3kg weight dip. He will push forward and has to be considered. INQUIRY (1) led and won at Listed level at Doomben before trying hard from the wide gate against Doctor Zous fading late. He draws to ride the speed today and expect him to go close. BAT A KAT (10) resumed with the Open win at Rocky sitting handy and has more up the sleeve. He uses the rail and is also a genuine hope. SELECTIONS: #4 Doctor Zous rates well off the latest and comes to peak. He looks a solid each way bet.
Goulburn: Race 7 @ 3:45pm
Good speed engaged. LAKE MARION (4) is ready to win. She's been around the mark all preparation, and in harder grade. Chased hard behind smart types at provincial level her past couple. Should be positioned close to the speed in the run and this race sets up well for her. ATOMIC SUNRISE (1) shapes as an improver second-up. Awkward alley to contend with but does have a bit of class on this lot. Keep safe. RARE GEM (6) is deep into a maiden preparation but continues to race well. SELECTIONS: Lake Marion gets the nod.
