Newcastle: Race 6 @ 4:40pm

Looking for Norway, Herengawe and Hush Writer to quickly push to the lead and set a solid tempo. Wyong Cup form Vs Mugatoo here. How can you go past MUGATOO (1)? He's got a superb winning record for a stayer and is five from seven in Australia. Just too classy in the Premier's Cup off five weeks last start, justifying the short quote. Many of today's rivals tackled the Wyong Cup and it's fair to say he would've had the wood on them had he contested that race. Loves to win and he's proven to 2400m when a narrow second to Young Rascal. Mighty hard to beat on his home track. HUSH WRITER (2) was first-up in the Wyong Cup and was terrific when left a sitting shot for Paths Of Glory. Won this race last year (was third-up). Noticeably fitter and will look the winner at some stage. THE LORD MAYOR (9) sneaks around at good odds in most of his starts. Came from a rearward spot in the lead-up race to narrowly miss. Will get last look. ALIFEROUS (14) and CARZOFF (4) for the exotics. SELECTIONS: Mugatoo to impress again. Backing straight out.

Canberra: Race 5 @ 3:10pm

Sabor and Maccomo will be prominent from the jump. MACCOMO (1) returned to racing much improved missing a half-length at Wyong in stronger than this. McDougall goes on and fitter the Joe Pride-trained gelding sets a decent standard. SABOR (11) won a trial but disappointed on debut and was immediately spelled. She presents here off a 2.3L Gosford trial win and looks ready to rumble for the sharp Sydney yard. GENERAL DUBAI (9) didn't have the best of it on debut and has looked the part in his two trials leading into today's resumption. Gets Jay Ford and a soft run from the rail and has to be kept very safe at a price. The early market suggests ARCTIC THUNDER (12) will be very competitive on debut for the Portelli yard and draws to advantage. SELECTIONS: #1 Maccomo with the race fitness and experience should be winning.

Geelong: Race 6 @ 3:30pm

Solid tempo with several going forward and with expecting Hortense and Unblushing to be the most prominent. UNBLUSHING (12) improved sharply winning the Bendigo Maiden and then and was just nudged out this grade at Sale. She peaks for a star yard and a leading stable-striker goes on. The filly will ride the speed from the low gate and take beating. DEPLOYS ALONE (6) runs along and is an improver ready to win. He will get every chance from the handy gate. HORTENSE (9) is fast and brings similar figures. He's a genuine player with the weight relief. ICON (1) will be better for the two runs back and is well in the mix drawn to advantage. SELECTIONS: #12 Unblushing looks good value at the current $5.50 quote.
