Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for April 8.
Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at Wyong, Pakenham Park, Kilmore, Goulburn and Townsville.
WYONG: RACE 4 @ 2:50 PM
The ultra-consistent TECTONICUS (1) has only won one from seven but has placed on a further five occasions. Has placed at this track and is drawn perfectly in gate two. Gets 2kg off with the claim and looks the one they have to run down. LANDSTRASSE (6) was a solid second two starts back and can be in the mix. FINNEY (4) will be fitter second-up from the spell.
SELECTIONS: Tectonicus to win.

PAKENHAM: RACE 4 @ 7:30 PM
MIMI'S AWARD (8) bumped into a smart one when resuming who has since come out and bolted in at Sandown. Looks ideally placed here and should go close. BOBSLED (2) led them up when resuming and was run down late. Will be improved by the outing and should not be dismissed. BISHOP ROCK (1) has finished in the money at past couple of outings and won't be too far away again. ARCHREGENCY (4) has been finding the line strongly in her races to date and should not be left out of calculations.
SELECTIONS: Back Mimi's Award.
KILMORE: RACE 2 @ 2:00 PM
TRANSPLANT (9) will find this so much easier than the listed race debut it made back in May last year. The winner of that race, Forever Free, has gone on with it, too. Bodes well for this race. SIZZLING NYMPH (6) kept on well enough at Werribee last start although well-beaten. Can be a place chance here. WANDJINAPINE (7) is in a similar boat although has been here and placed before. BAIT ZAIN (1) rates as a best of the rest chance for first fours.
SELECTIONS: Transplant the win.
GOULBURN: RACE 5 @ 4:20 PM
VALIANT LAD (4) won the Maiden as favourite at Canberra building on the solid debut here. The mile suits now and he can make it a double drawn to advantage. REVELLERS (6) will be better for the two runs back and has decent figures this distance range. Winning rider McDougall is booked and the gelding should go close. LARMOUR (1) disappointed over the middle distance but placed prior over 1700m and is in the mix at a price with a return to that. HARD EXPECTATIONS (5) resumes and will race over longer. Lever's booking interests and it wouldn't surprise if he's presenting forward this time around. SELECTIONS: With Valiant Lad.
TOWNSVILLE: RACE 4 @ 2:57 PM
CINNAMON MISSILE (1) drops in grade and is ready to fire up to the mile. The two runs back have been good and Wiggins takes over from the 4kg apprentice. TUNERO (2) is back in grade off the near-miss in the Mareeba Open. Go on the half length defeat here prior. Gets the handy 3kg claim and is a decent hope. TUTELAGE (3) missed a nose here as favourite enjoying the lift in trip. Peaks and can make the finish again. RICH PRINCESS (7) looks best of the rest.
SELECTIONS: Backing Cinnamon Missile.
