Lay day at Margaret River Pro

3 minute read

A lay day has been called at the Margaret River Pro due to small surf and unfavourable winds.

Small surf and unfavourable winds have prompted organisers to call a lay day at the Margaret River Pro.

The next call will be made at 0915 AEST on Thursday.

"The small swell has stuck around this morning and the wind is expected to get worse throughout the day," said World Surf League head of competition Jessi Miley-Dyer.

"The forecast suggests that we have plenty of swell on the way and light winds for much of the remainder of the window."

On Tuesday, Australians Stephanie Gilmore, Sally Fitzgibbons, Isabella Nicholls, Tyler Wright and Bronte Macaulay all advanced to the quarter-finals in the fourth event on the 2021 WSL tour.

The men's event is through to the round of 16 with Julian Wilson and Ryan Callinan the only remaining Australians.
