Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for Australian TAB meetings on September 15.
Australian thoroughbred Tab meetings are today held at Randwick Kensington, Bendigo, Belmont Park, Ipswich and Balaklava.
RANDWICK KENSINGTON: RACE 6 @ 4:20 PM
OVERMANN (9) resumes here but the form he showed as a two-year-old would put him right in contention in this. Was a strong Rosehill winner before having a crack at the Group 1 J J Atkins in Queensland. Tuned up for this with an easy Rosehill trial and looks to have a bit of class on this field. The one to beat. A VERY FINE RED (11) returned to racing last time out with a solid third over this course and distance and gets the benefit of Sherry's claim. Likely to play a major role. OH PLEASE DIANNA (10) has looked very good in both runs for the new stable this time in and should get a perfect run for Rawiller from gate three. In the mix. SUPERIOR WITNESS (3) is in career-best form and cannot be dismissed.
SELECTIONS: Overmann to win.

BELMONT PARK: RACE 7 @ 4:52 PM
SPARKLING JEWEL (9) trialled sharply before the debut win and she was then heavily-bet again placing at the mile in a CL3. The Pike-Williams linkage are lethal and fitter the promising mare should be winning. SIR RACHELOT (2) is a leader who has been knocking on the door. The 3kg claimer goes on and that brings him right into it. OLDEN (1) hasn't been far away and doubt the drop in distance will bother the on-pacer. Gets Pateman for the apprentice and draws to advantage. BELGRANO BELLE (10) won the Maiden second-up as expected and can build on that for a sharp barn.
SELECTIONS: Keen on Sparkling Jewel.
IPSWICH: RACE 5 @ 3:28 PM
The Matt Dunn yard has been down on form but XANTHUS (1) can get things back on track. Was just beaten at home second-up in Open grade and draws well with the hot 3kg apprentice taking care of most of the weight rise. DIVINE ROCA (6) won the 62 and then unusually got too far back this grade at the Gold Coast. He can use the rail and can bounce with the 3x winning rider reunited. PARKO (2) is fast and also finds easier. Gets in well with the 2kg claim and can't be ruled out. RICHETTI (4) would be a chance on the lip defeat two-back and the winkers come off.
SELECTIONS: Backing Xanthus to win.
BALAKLAVA: RACE 8 @ 3:40 PM
SECOND SLIP (2) won first-up in the Caulfield 78. Came back to SA and led and blitzed the Stakes field heavily-bet. Keeps the leading hoop and can roll across on the spacious track and box-seat. First time at the mile but he's fitter and the form is compelling. RITRATTO (5) resumed with the placing in a Group 3 and the was beaten 2.5L against the above. He will also go forward and is a serious player with the extra fitness. WINNING PARTNER (6) is in the leading barn and hasn't been far away this preparation Melbourne Opens. His best is good enough and he can take this out without surprising. Stablemate SIGN OF USSURI (17) made a ratings spike just missing in the 72. He's on the improve and is a chance drawn well and with the winkers going on. MR MARATHON MAN (8) switched from Sydney and was further improved running on strongly in the Murray Bridge 88. Has been freshened and gets a big weight drop in this grade. Goes in at a price.
SELECTIONS: With Second Slip in a good contest.
