Lightning To Strike At Kranji

3 minute read

Group 1 winning sprinter Lim's Lightning is forced to give weight away on Saturday night but still looks terribly hard to beat in the seventh event.

The 2018 Golden Horseshoe winner has certainly found his feet since returning back to Singapore winning two of his three attempts.

Group 1 placed at three in the Singapore Guineas, Lim's Lightning was sent to Australia to race under the care of Matthew Dunn.

Unplaced in four runs he joined the John and Chris Meagher operation winning one of his four attempts before being sent back to Singapore.

Now under the care of Dan Meagher the son of Lope De Vega has been awesome in three starts.

An impressive winner fresh off a 266 day break he took a big step forward second up when taking out the Group 1 Lion City Cup [1200m].

Stepped straight to the mile third up he proved very gallant in defeat when a narrow second behind Minister in the Group 1 Kranji Mile.

Rated 106 by Timeform he is sure to appreciate the drop back to 1400m and looks to get a lovely run for Beasley.

Does give weight away to six of his rivals but they'd want to be good to beat him.

When assessing Timeform weight adjusted ratings he sits clear off his last start performance and only looks to have to hold his form to be right in the finish again.

The Stephen Gray trained Kharisma shapes as the main danger having won three of his last four starts with his only blemish coming in the Lion City Cup.

Kharisma finished seventh behind Lim's Lightning on that occasion but now meets him 4.5kg better off.

From the rails draw he looks likely to take up the running and is sure to give them all something to run down.

The Michael Clements trained Top Knight simply got too far back in the Kranji Mile but hit the line well and remains under notice with the added aid of the claim.

He has won four of eight attempts over this trip and with even luck he should be storming home late.

Of the rest the Shane Baertschiger trained Passport To Rome appears the next in line.

While no match for Mr Malek last start his performance still held merit and he is more than capable on his day.

Good luck and happy punting.
