To celebrate Adelaide's biggest day of the year, Goodwood Day, The Melbourne Mail is going with Adelaide form at Flemington this week.

That form comes via Sure Knee  who tackles the sixth race on the card, a mile handicap for fillies, and she does so from a wide barrier.

That wide barrier looks the biggest stumbling block for a talented filly who looks well suited coming back to the mile after looking to not quite get home over 2000m last time.

That was in a Group 1 in Adelaide that rated really well. Her performance there stacks up really strongly but even more promising was her run over the mile two back where Princess Jenni, winner of that high-rating Oaks, touched her off in a race where both closed strongly in a race that again rated way above expectations.

Sure Knee had marked herself one on the rise in wins either side of a break prior to that Caulfield performance and that string of good ratings has enough appeal to offset the wide draw and potentially tricky map that she faces at Flemington.

For an each way play we go back to an old Melbourne Mail favourite - Invincible Al .

He's a hard horse to follow with his low percentage racing pattern but the Flemington 1000m is so often run too slowly early and left for those with a closing burst. That's got Al written all over it and the time to be with one as low percentage as him is when he is each way odds - $8.50 in early markets.

THE MELBOURNE MAIL
