Ten races at Eagle Farm on Saturday and the trainer-jockey combination of Tony Gollan and Baylee Nothdurft could be in for a good day.
The best of their hopes looks to come up in the last race of the day with Macewen in the Melbourne Cup @ Eagle Farm 0-70 over 1200m.
Macewen is a capable sprinter who has been racing well this campaign and put his best foot forward with a dominant 2.8L win at this course and distance.
That was his second win at this track and added to his record at 1200m, the journey where all of his best results have come.
He goes up in the weights but still gets the benefit of Nothdurft's claims and he returned a rating last time that puts him clear of this filed.
A repeat of the performance sees him hard to beat.
Gollan and Nothdurft also have an each way hope in Solar Star in the Suez Recycling and Recovery Class 6 over 1200m.
The former Victorian has raced just twice for Gollan and won them both, improving her rating significantly when leading throughout and kicking clear for an easy 2.3L win at Ipswich last outing.
That was Nothdurft's first ride on the mare and while they face stiffer opposition on Saturday, Solar Star has yet to miss a place third up so should be at her peak.
She has the speed to work across into a good position and with the claim to help her offers each way appeal.
