South Australian Derby day is an important one on the calendar and we’re going for the ladies.

The Adelaide Guineas is one of the other feature races and we will be taking a filly in the form of Kooweerup.

Rattling home twice from a spell, she was stiff not to win at Flemington.

Her one attempt at Morphettville was a big win in the Breeders at this carnival last year. But she is bred to be a miler.

This looks a real plan to peak here third up and if the track was wet, she will handle that too.

Back to the Derby and there is good value in the filly Moonlight Maid to run a big race against the boys.

It happened just last year when Qafila won it and this girl was excellent in just missing in the Australasian Oaks last week.

She was so tough taking off at the 1200m and finding herself in front a long way from home. There to drop out, she bravely kept battling and will benefit from that.

In a not too dissimilar Spring campaign, she won the Manifold, was second in the Vase and then third in the Oaks.

The big boys might go looking for each other here and if she pinched a break, she could be dangerous.
