Morphettville has a very early group race in the season with the running of the Spring Stakes.
There are a group of nice sprinters in Adelaide. They won some of the really good short course races around the country last season – plenty of G1/2s races.
One of those who was in contention in feature races was Behemoth and he will be wanting to place an early marker in the ground.
In the last two runnings of the Goodwood he's been second and fourth and should have finished closer both times.
Often his first up efforts come over shorter than 1200m so this will be interesting as he won't get as run off his feet and will have more time to get home.
He trialled well as he often does and we should get better odds than those on offer at present.
Earlier in the day, a nice young horse called So You Can makes his first step out as a 3yo over 1100m.
While that is likely short of his best given his breeding, he was so impressive in the last run before a spell.
He was fast enough to sit near the speed over a sprint trip and kick well clear late. That was vastly different to the debut when back near the tail and flashing home.
Can see him sitting off them here in a race of a few go forwards and a few chances and him having the last call on them.
His talent will take him a long way here and maybe onto better races.
