Belmont has ended as it is Kalgoorlie Cup day on Saturday before heading back to Ascot.
It would only be right to pick one out in the Cup and Friar Fox comes off a last start win. In fact very few of these have been in the winner's stall for a while.
The Blackfriars mare was first up in the Coolgardie Cup and charged home from last to just miss.
She then took on the Boulder Cup up in ground and won with a little bit to spare. Improvement only looks likely.
This race is only a little further and they should be able to find a spot around midfield from this barrier.
The weight relief off the former G1 winners is a critical aspect.
Another horse in flying consistent form is Staralign and the local 5yo should be tough to beat again.
He won twice here in July and then placed twice here in August. But after a month off scored over the 1400m sitting right on the speed as he usually does.
Up 1kg for this, he comes up with the inside so either kicks up to lead or sits right behind the leaders if they go too fast.
These sorts of on-pace horses that run the same each time are very often money making delights.
