Sydney Specials: Rosehill – 5th December 2020

3 minute read

Doesn’t look to be any easy marks at Rosehill on Saturday with good competitive racing across the card.

The opener is a cracker, as mentioned last week; this is the time of the year you can (hopefully) catch a few progressive ones on the way through.

The problem in the first is how do you split them?

Kiku ran good figures when back on top of the ground last start and while Zoumist's time first up was poor, you had to be impressed by the way she did it.

Throw in the resuming Smart Image and first up winner Cultural Amnesia, suddenly we've got ourselves a race!

I was very taken by Ellsberg's performance in the Spring Stakes last start and he looks well placed to break back into the winner's stall in the second event.

After not beginning the best he was hunted through from the inside draw, pressing on to take up the running.

He was pressured all the way, and while headed shortly after straightening, he stuck on right to the line and did a great job to finish third.

The other two on-pacers were beaten 12L and 14.5L, both hard in the market (Perfect Radiance & Real Peace).

He should be aided by the drop back in trip and looks well treated at the weights on Saturday.

The blinkers (near side) go on for the first time and Clark takes over from a middle draw.

Will need to begin better, but if he does, he should be able to control it comfortably in front (there doesn't look to be much speed).

Have him marked clear favourite ($2.50) and he should go be very hard to run down on his home track.

It took Hulk 13 starts to break through for his maiden win and he's now won three of his last nine.

He only went down narrowly two back at Rosehill, before toying with them at Kembla Grange last start (never thought I'd be writing that about Hulk).

Steps up in grade, but looks well treated at the weights and has drawn to get a lovely soft run from the inside draw.

McEvoy takes over and with even luck, he should prove hard to hold out.
