Listed racing sees the start of an Autumn carnival in Perth.
The first of those is the Cyril Flower Stakes for the sprinters although for a sprint race there is not a lot of winning form.
Given the lack of fortitude for a few of these, taking the risk that Platoon could well charge over the top of them.
As long as he is not run off his feet, this horse has plenty of quality at his best coming off all G1/2 racing.
This is by far the weakest he has raced in for some time so if Chris Parnham can be close enough on the corner, he could make a few quiver late.
He looks a fair 1 x 3 bet.
Then we move to the Challenge Stakes where a really good 3yo race should ensue.
With the well fancied Magical Dream out now, the stable and ownership mate Western Empire is the one to follow.
He quickly was asked to race in tougher grades in the Spring and his fourth in the Guineas was a top run from near last.
Leading may not have been his go in the Lee Steere so a short break saw him resume with confidence in a Bunbury Maiden.
The fact he is back into stakes company so quickly shows what they think of him.
BEST FROM THE WEST
PLAY OF THE DAY (1): Race 7 #2 Platoon @ $6.50
PLAY OF THE DAY (2): Race 8 #6 Western Empire @ $3.00
