Ima Well Placed To Break Through

3 minute read

The Steven Burridge trained Ima appears well placed to break through for his maiden win when set to contest the second event at Kranji on Saturday afternoon.

Formerly based in Australia under the care of Grahame Begg [Old Name: Busby], Ima displayed good ability placing in two of his six starts.

He left Australian shores rated 87 by Timeform, a figure which should see him very competitive in Singapore.

Off the scene for over a year (409 days), Ima proved very game in his Singapore debut, going down narrowly behind his stablemate Sage.

He loomed up to win but just peaked on his run and is sure to derive plenty of improvement from that hit-out.

In Australia his best form was achieved over 1400m, so suspect he will be better over further, however the decision to stay at 1200m looks the right one, given his long time off.

He's drawn to receive all the favours on Saturday and looks very well placed when assessing Timeform weight adjusted ratings.

Ima finds himself in a very weak maiden, should lead and with Kok aboard, he gets in very well at the weights.

On career best form he has plenty of room to move on that first up run and if so, he should be very hard to beat.

The Tim Fitzsimmons trained Ben Wade shapes as the main danger as while failing to fire on debut, he has since been back to the trials and looks in good order.

Sent out hard in the market, he failed to showcase his best behind Entertainer, but obviously has good talent and can improve sharply.

The Desmond Koh trained Cranium steps out on debut for his new stable and is expected to measure up despite not being seen since May 2017.

Formerly trained by Team Hawkes, he displayed fair ability in five starts and while he will likely need this run, he still has to be kept safe.

Of the rest the James Peters trained Wind Of Dubai appears the next in line.

Good luck and happy punting.
