Sydney Specials: Rosehill - 22nd May 2021

3 minute read

Plenty of depth in Saturday's card at Rosehill with Blondeau the only pronounced short priced favourite.

Both Overmann and Ellsberg are trading inside 2-1 but wouldn't be surprised if both trade better tomorrow.

The Chris Waller trained Green Flash lines up in the sixth event and looks very hard to beat getting out to 2000m.

The Waterhouse and Bott trained Maranoa sets up the market as the early favourite, though more than happy to take it on.

While impressive in three starts, he has been doing so on the country circuit and finds himself head first into a good race on Saturday.

Notably the horse that beat him two starts back (Le Vizir) is $15, I just can't see him starting favourite.

Green Flash caught the eye two back at Canterbury before clearly looking for further when finishing second behind his stablemate Grace And Harmony.

The latter is Chris Waller's leading chance in the Qld Oaks and expect that form to measure right up on Saturday.

Another big tick is they scratched him from a winnable race on Wednesday in preference for this.

Should lob into a good spot from the middle draw and with even luck expect him to go very close.

Sticking with the Chris Waller stable in the eighth event with Archanna.

Kept on the fresh side (58 days) since a close third behind Achiever last start, she looks well set up down in the weights for Berry.

Five subsequent winners have already come out of that race and she looks great value at $9 given her SP profile.

We've already seen her in this company previously went sent out $5.50 at Randwick over 1300m.

This is a much more suitable event and do expect her to firm up with early favourite Ellsberg a query.

An impressive winner fresh, though you'd have to say was disappointing last start in the Hawkesbury Guineas.

Exoboom didn't do a great deal franking that form last weekend and the jury is well and truly out on these three-year-olds.

Archanna is adaptable on all conditions and is unbeaten on her home track.

On her best form she looks well treated and if able to run up to that level she looks hard to beat.

Simon Dinopoulos' Tips:

Race 6 #9 Green Flash @ $5.50

Race 8 #14 Archanna @ $9.00
