Another Adelaide meeting where the fields are not overly large, especially in the first half the card.

One of the short course races early in the day is in Race 2 and given its benchmark, you'd think more horses would be jagging some recent wins.

However they haven't and yet in Alleboom here is a gelding ready to peak and win.

The most critical thing for him is the track. He's been running well this time in on affected ground but this surface should be much better than what he has faced of late.

He's a four time winner on good tracks and yet last outing he led and missed by a nose in a similar graded race.

Happy to think the early ease on him is only because he opened far too short. Recall he did win in Cup week just last November when backed late.

In the following race, Peter Moody sends over a 3yo to contest a 1200m race first up from a decent break.

Eagle Hawk Star debuted against Profiteer at Flemington and found that too hard but then had a spell.

The son of Star Turn came back to Cranbourne and despite getting a long way back over this very distance, he rattled over the top to begin to draw away.

He will only be better for that experience and another let up will give him more time to mature.

With only eight runners, he does need some speed on but will never be that far off them.

Expecting him to garner some support on race day.
