Former Bondi winner Kubrick gets his chance to break a run of outs when he finds the right race at Doomben on Saturday.

Chris Waller's gelding hasn't won since landing that $1 million feature at Randwick nearly two years ago but his hoof is on the till having placed at three of his last four starts.

Kubrick backs up off a strong performance at Toowoomba last week when he found the line well to go under by a nose.

The rating he returned that day is above what his rivals have been producing so he only needs to hold his level to be beating this field.

Last-start winner Contemptuous is a big chance to go back to back earlier in the program.

He ran on to miss narrowly here when fresh then atoned with a win at Eagle Farm, scoring by 1.8 lengths.

Steps up to a trip where he won his only attempt and should be at his peak third up.
