We head toward Winter and for not too many times more it is Ascot and not Belmont for Perth Racing this season.
The feature is the Eurythmic Stakes over 2200m and some of these have had a few chances.
In a race where we could see the form turnover, Marocchino didn't have a great set up coming back from 2300m last outing.
He led but was left flat footed and open to late finishers as the fav sat on his back.
Now back to what you'd call more a staying journey, they can wind it up before the corner and make the rest stay.
That seems a better philosophy than bringing the rest into the race and then trying to outsprint them.
The following race is another of these staying events but one more suited to less company.
One runner who looks desperate for ground is Hezapro and the 4yo won't have distance as an excuse this time.
In a small field last time he was last in a slowly run race. That can't help being back there.
Put into the race before the corner, he took some time to wind up but once balanced, it was the run of a stayer.
The claim for Laqdar Ramoly just adds to the reasons he's worth a ticket.
