Pretty In Pink wins Sky Racing Moreton Cup Group 2 $200,000 at Doomben, 1200m.
After showing promise with two wins and two placings from her first six starts, the John O’Shea-trained filly Pretty In Pink did well in taking out this Group race, albeit by a very narrow margin.
Having her second run this preparation, she raced in fourth place, one out and one back under Robbie Fradd, challenged at the 200m, hit the front shortly afterwards and then held on to score in a photo.
Brave Song settled in last place in the eight-horse field, behind a reasonable tempo. He went deep on straightening, took a while to wind-up in the sprint for home but then came with a strong late run to fail by the barest of margins for a very good second.
Winter Bride raced outside the leader (Divine Dice) before going to the front on turning for home. She then kept fighting back well for a close-up third.
The favourite Viridine raced in fifth place on the rails, got into clear running on straightening and kept battling on under his top weight (58kg) in the sprint home for fourth, beaten a length.
