River Racer wins Oaks Htls/Res. Glasshouse Hcp Listed $175, 000 at Sunshine Coast, 1400m.

Les Ross-trained mare River Racer broke though in good style for her first stakes success in winning here, her fifth win (11 placings) in 31 starts.

She settled beyond midfield and deep from her wide barrier (14) before improving between runners nearing the 600m. She fanned deep and into clear running at the home turn, sprinted smartly to hit the front on passing the 200m and then went on to win well.

Niccanova settled midfield, was blocked on straightening, got a split at the 100m and then ran on to take second.

Chapter And Verse settled well back as expected, was held up behind runners on turning for home, eased into clear running at the 200m and then ran on to dead-heat for third with Platinum Angel who had been handily placed in about sixth spot to the home turn and then battled on nicely in the straight.

The favourite Jamaican Rain went to the front but was under pressure in the heavy 10 conditions at the home turn before fading to finish (6.5 lengths) 14th.
