Classy Godolphin-raced filly Exhilarates followed her lateclosing win when resuming in the Quezette Stakes (Gr 3, 1100m) at Caulfield on August 17 with another very good stakes success here. Appreciating a better barrier, she settled closer to the lead in third place, tracking a quick tempo before moving up at the home turn. She took the lead at the 100m and then went on to win well. Sassy Salitage had a nice trip in fourth place, improved nearing the home turn and kept running on well for second without looking likely to trouble the winner. St Edward's Crown was eased from her wide barrier and settled in last place in the nine-horse field. She commenced a wide move from the 600m and continued to run on nicely to take third in a promising first-up effort. Saone, who was stepping up in class here, raced in second last place, improved between runners at the home turn and did really well in running on for (1.1 lengths) fourth. Taraayef showed good pace to lead, was then pressured in front, only tiring over the closing stages for (1.4 lengths) fifth after running a bold race.
