In a surprise victory, the Peter and Paul Snowden-trained Spending To Win broke through for his first win since September last year in scoring here.

Having his first run since failing at Caulfield in July, he showed good early pace and soon went to the front. He then travelled nicely, grabbed a break at the 200m and then held on to win well.

Glenall had a nice trip in third place on the rails, got along the inner to be second at the 200m and then steadily reduced the margin on the winner, getting to within a long head of the winner at the post. The favourite Handle The Truth settled in sixth place, wide with cover, moved up (deep) on turning for home and kept running on quite well to take third.

Chauffeur settled midfield on the rails from his good barrier (2) and tracked through on the inner in the straight for fourth.
