Talented mare Gingerella returned in a big way on Friday night and was one of the star performers of the weekend.

A winner of her first three starts for the Michael Clements stable, Gingerella finished second at her next two, before not disgraced in the Group 1 Lion City Cup [1200m].

Off the scene for 230 days, Gingerella made her return in the sixth event and was well supported, sent out the even money favourite.

Beginning well from the middle draw, Gingerella eased back to settle second with the Dan Meagher trained Lim's Dream pressing on to take up the running.

Travelling well into the straight, Gingerella loomed up ominously on straightening and took over passing the 300m.

While unable to really shake off Lim's Dream, Gingeralla fought hard and always appeared in control, holding a narrow margin to the line.

Rated 90 by Timeform prior to her first up attempt, Gingerella returned  a new career peak on Friday night, now rated 96.

Formerly based in WA under the care of Simon Barrass, Gingerella broke through for her maiden win at her third start (Bunbury - 06/12/2017) and notably gave prominent owner Joe Singh his first overseas win.

The daughter of Singh's top rated horse Gingerbread Man, Gingerella is clearly trending the right way and has thrived in her new surroundings.

Since winning on debut for Clements back in January last year, Gingerella has improved 29 pounds and 16 pounds on her previous best achieved in Australia.

Last preparation she improved with each performance and if able to follow a similar trend (harder now), she is certainly one to follow.

On Sunday evening the Leticia Dragon trained Strong N Powerful brought up a hat-trick of wins and did it in great style.

An impressive winner beating subsequent winner On Line two back, he again proved too strong on Sunday, overcoming a 2.5kg rise at the weights.

 Since breaking through for his maiden win in October, he has turned the corner and returned a Timeform rating of 86 on Sunday.

Sectionals suggest he should have no trouble getting a mile and it will be interesting to see where Dragon heads, given his last three starts have all been over 1400m.

Likely to be seen in Class 3 company at his next start, it certainly won't be easy, however if able to continue his upward spiral, he is sure to make his presence felt.
