West Coast midfielder Luke Shuey has been dogged by hamstring issues over the past 18 months, but he is closing in on his latest return.

West Coast skipper Luke Shuey is set to make his playing comeback in the WAFL next week, as the Eagles welcome back three key players for Sunday's AFL blockbuster against Richmond.

Shuey hasn't played since suffering his latest hamstring tear in the club's round-three win over Port Adelaide.

The 31-year-old has suffered a string of hamstring injuries to both legs over the past 18 months and the Eagles opted for surgery following his most recent setback.

Shuey is back in full training and has been pencilled in to line up for West Coast's WAFL side against Subiaco next week.

If the comeback goes well, Shuey could be back in AFL ranks for the round-15 home clash with the Western Bulldogs on June 27.

"He's prepped so well, we've given it extra weeks and now his next step is footy," Eagles coach Adam Simpson said.

"So a bit like what we did with (Elliot) Yeo, he'll get some minutes next week (in the WAFL)."

West Coast will be boosted by the return of spearheads Josh Kennedy (soreness) and Oscar Allen (concussion) against the Tigers, with defender Liam Duggan (knee) also named in the 18.

All-Australian defender Brad Sheppard will miss the match due to concussion, while back-up ruckman Bailey Williams was ruled out with a hamstring injury.

Simpson hinted more players could be ruled out before Sunday's match.

"There'll be a couple of little niggles that come out in the next couple of days," Simpson said.

"Some guys are really close, some guys might just miss the mark."

Simpson said Dom Sheed (shoulder) would be right to play while forward Liam Ryan (soreness) is also expected to get up.

Jeremy McGovern (knee), Tim Kelly (knee) and Alex Witherden (groin) aren't available yet.

Richmond added fit-again midfielder Kane Lambert, Ben Miller, Will Martyn and Hugo Ralphsmith to their extended squad.

Dion Prestia, who suffered hamstring tightness in the Dreamtime win over Essendon last week, was also named in the squad.

West Coast and Richmond both have 7-5 records, meaning the game will be crucial to their top-eight and top-four hopes.
