Dual All-Australian Chad Wingard has attempted to put his foot down on a reported trade from Hawthorn, after GWS showed interest in the Hawks star.
Rory Lobb's hopes of being traded back to GWS appear dead in the water, while Hawthorn star Chad Wingard has made it crystal clear he doesn't want to be shipped off to the Giants.
Fremantle and GWS have been locked in negotiations since last week over the future of Lobb, with the forward's manager Colin Young even taking a public pot shot at Dockers football boss Peter Bell during the process.
Young had been optimistic a deal would eventually be done, but he announced on Monday that an agreement wouldn't be reached.
"We exhausted all avenues to try and assist GWS facilitate this trade in which we believe all parties would benefit in the long run," Young told afl.com.au.
"I advised all parties at 7.30pm Sunday evening by email that this trade would not get off the ground so we should all move on."
Lobb still has two more years remaining on his Fremantle contract in a deal believed to be worth about $700,000 per season.
The 28-year-old, who played 74 games for the Giants before being traded to Fremantle at the end of 2018, had been willing to take a pay cut in order to make his move back to GWS a reality.
But with Fremantle and GWS still a fair way apart on what they each deem to be a fair trade, it seems as though Lobb will remain at the Dockers for at least another year.
The big focus on the remainder of the trade period will now turn firmly to Wingard.
The 28-year-old is contracted for two more years at Hawthorn, and it's believed the Hawks are willing to pay a portion of his salary if the Giants are able to offer them a bumper trade deal.
But the dual All-Australian has taken to social media to declare he has no interest in switching to a third club.
Wingard moved to Waverley Park from Port Adelaide at the end of 2018, having played 47 games for the Hawks since.
In an Instagram post, the 28-year-old posted a photo of himself alongside a clip of Leonardo DiCaprio's character in the classic 2013 film Wolf of Wall St declaring "I'm not "f***ing leaving".
The post was also accompanied by US rapper Lupe Fiasco's song 'The Show Goes On'.
Along with Wingard, Tom Mitchell, Jaeger O'Meara and Jack Gunston are other Hawthorn stars who are reportedly available to rival clubs before Wednesday night's trade deadline if the right deal can be reached.
Contracted Giants small forward Bobby Hill is keen on a move to Essendon, only a month after declaring he was keen to repay the faith shown by the Giants in drafting him with pick 24 back in 2018.
Fremantle are still attempting to negotiate a deal that would land them contracted Geelong wingman Jordan Clark.
Meanwhile, Collingwood have secured the services of Patrick Lipinski after trading pick No.43 to the Western Bulldogs for the 23-year-old.
Lipinski, who played just 11 times in 2021, including two as an unused medical sub, was keen to get to the Magpies in order to secure more game time.
