Big-hitting Sophie Devine is set to star at the women's T20 World Cup in Australia after a breathtaking, world-record knock for New Zealand.

New Zealand's Sophie Devine has backed up her stunning batting in the Women's Big Bash League with an international world record, proving she'll be a player to watch at the Twenty20 World Cup in Australia.

Devine has smashed 105 off 65 balls for the White Ferns who have crushed South Africa by 69 runs in Wellington to take a 3-1 lead in a five-match series, which both teams are using to prepare for the World Cup.

Thirty-year-old opener Devine became the first player, male or female, to pass 50 in five-successive T20 internationals.

She went on to post her maiden international ton in the shortest format, blasting 12 fours and three sixes in the home side's 2-171.

It was reminiscent of her dominant WBBL form for Adelaide which resulted in her crowning as player of the tournament. She scored a competition-high 769 runs at 76.9, delivered with a strike rate of 130.33.

The opener will be a key wicket when defending champions Australia face New Zealand on March 2 in their final World Cup pool match at Melbourne's Junction Oval.

It might be the pool decider, with Australia ranked first in the world and the White Ferns third.
