The Adelaide Strikers have locked wicketkeeper-batsman Alex Carey on a four-year BBL deal.

The Strikers' offer came amid interest from rival franchises for the damaging left-hander, who is third on Adelaide's all-time run-scoring list.

Carey will join the Strikers in mid-December after playing in Australia's 50-over and Twenty20 series against India starting on Friday.

"Alex is a ... player and leader of the highest standard and for him to be at the Strikers for the next four years is a massive result for this franchise," Strikers coach Jason Gillespie said in a statement on Monday.

Adelaide have also secured star spinner Rashid Khan, the world's top-ranked T20 bowler, on a fresh contract before the BBL season starting on December 10.
