A shooting that wounded a man in Melbourne last year is still under investigation as police look for a car believed to be linked to the attack.

Identifying a dark sedan might be key to solving a Melbourne shooting that wounded a man almost a year ago.

Police have released CCTV images of a dark coloured car they believe is linked to the attack, in which a man was shot on July 31 last year.

The 41-year-old man was treated for a non-life threatening injury in Casey Hospital after being shot around the Casey area.

The dark car was seen being driven erratically around the area late at night, and witnesses have been asked to come forward to assist police with the investigation.

Police suspect the shooting was targeted.
