Brisbane veteran Alex Glenn is backing Payne Haas to make up for his mistake after the star forward was arrested after an alleged incident with NSW police.

Brisbane veteran Alex Glenn has backed Payne Haas to come out of the NRL club's latest pre-season scandal a better person.

Haas is set to appear in a northern NSW court next month after being arrested and charged with offensive language and intimidating police for an alleged incident at Tweed Heads last Saturday.

The 21-year-old returned to training on Monday but may also face club or competition sanctions with the NRL's integrity unit investigating the matter.

Glenn says the representative forward has the support of the playing group as the Broncos aim to turn around their fortunes under new coach Kevin Walters after a disastrous 2020.

"The best thing about our club is we're always in it together and we're around Payno since the day it happened," Glenn said.

"I know Payno is very disappointed with his actions and he wants to come out and prove his worth to the club and the fans.

"He's already apologised to many people ... he's made a mistake but he's going to make up for it and I know he's going to be a better person for it."

Glenn celebrated the birth of his third child Oakley on Tuesday before then heading to Redcliffe on Wednesday where the Broncos confirmed they will play a testimonial game for the 32-year-old against North Queensland at Dolphin Stadium on February 27.

That match will lead in to Glenn's 13th NRL season at Red Hill.

Glenn's delight at being named Broncos captain at the start of 2020 turned to disappointment as he managed just eight appearances in an injury-plagued campaign, which ended with Brisbane picking up a first wooden spoon in their history.

Walters is yet to confirm who will captain the Broncos in 2021 and Glenn is hopeful he'll get another crack at the job.

"I feel like last year I didn't get that opportunity because I was pretty injury-prone unfortunately," he said.

"It's something that I'd really love another opportunity at but in saying that it's not going to dictate the person that I am on the field or on the training paddock.

"I'm still going to lead whether I've got the captaincy next to my name or not."
