Parramatta have been dealt a significant blow in the run to the NRL finals with Mitch Moses to miss games with a minor back fracture.

Moses was hurt in contact while debuting for NSW in last week's State of Origin, with scans since showing the minor fracture.

While the injury sounds serious, Eels officials claim it is similar to a bone bruising and the star halfback will not be out for months.

Instead, the club will see how the injury settles and remain confident he will be able to return for big games heading into the finals.

Regardless, the injury comes at a horrible time for Parramatta as they fight for a top-four spot.

They have Canberra on Thursday night followed by games against the Sydney Roosters, South Sydney and Manly.

Brad Arthur's men also face Penrith and Melbourne in the last two rounds before the finals.

Arthur on Tuesday named son Jake to partner Dylan Brown in the halves for the Raiders clash.
