Roar defender facing scans on injured knee

Brisbane are sweating on scans amid fears that defender Jack Hingert has suffered a serious knee injury in the A-League draw with Western Sydney.

The Roar's second-most capped player went down behind the play late in Saturday's 1-1 draw against the Wanderers at Moreton Daily Stadium.

Hingert was unable to play out the match and coach Warren Moon confirmed the 30-year-old would undergo scans during the week.

A serious injury would be a devastating blow to Hingert, who ruptured the ACL in his right knee during the 2018-19 season.

"It's too early to tell ... he said it feels sore," Moon said.

"He's getting a scan next week and we'll know more next week.

"I don't want to be speculating on it ... we're not too sure about the severity."

In better news for the Roar, who have now failed to win in their past eight matches, captain Tom Aldred is expected to be fit to return for next Friday's clash with Macarthur.

The Englishman pulled out before Saturday's match after picking up an injury in Friday's training session.

With fellow defender Macaulay Gillesphey suspended, the Roar had to thrust inexperienced pair Kai Trewin and Jordan Courtney-Perkins in against the Wanderers.

Gillesphey will return to face the Bulls and Moon was confident Aldred would also be back to take on Ante Milicic's team.

"I'm pretty confident Tommy will be fine. What he did was so minor," Moon said.

"It was a couple of days-type injury. It was a slight little tweak, and had we had an extra day or two, I think he'd have been okay."

Think. Is this a bet you really want to place?
