A week after Scott McDonald's sudden exit from Brisbane Roar, veteran goalkeeper Jamie Young has been granted permission to speak to rival A-League clubs.
Despite being firmly in the A-League finals chase, Brisbane Roar goalkeeper Jamie Young is seeking a move away from the club.
The 35-year-old has been a stalwart at the Roar since arriving in 2014, twice winning the club's player of the year award and being named A-League goalkeeper of the year in 2017-18.
Young showed his importance again on Saturday as he made important late saves to deny Wellington Phoenix in a goalless draw at a waterlogged Moreton Daily Stadium.
That result leaves the Roar eighth on the ladder with 27 points, just a point behind sixth-placed Western United in the race for finals.
Although he's contracted with the Roar until the end of the 2021-22 season, AAP understands Young has been given permission to speak to other clubs.
The revelation comes just a week after striker Scott McDonald quit the club following a falling out with coach Warren Moon.
The ex-Socceroo has since joined Western Sydney and scored the winner for the Wanderers on debut in Saturday's 3-2 derby victory over Sydney FC.
Key defender Macaulay Gillesphey is also reportedly poised to leave the Roar after rejecting a contract offer amid interest from other A-League teams.
Gillesphey limped off with a quad injury late in Saturday's draw with the Phoenix but Moon was confident the Englishman would be fit to face Western United on Wednesday in what looms as a pivotal clash in the top six chase.
Wednesday's game will be the third in a week for the Roar but Moon is embracing the challenge as his team try to extend a six-game run without defeat.
"Bring it on. This is the schedule," Moon said.
"Unless (APL commissioner) Greg O'Rourke wants to change the schedule, this is us, so I'm quite happy with what's in front of us.
"It means the boys don't have to train, I don't have to plan sessions, we can go straight to games.
"I said to the boys last week we're going to embrace this, we're going to have a positive outlook on the amount of games because that's what we want, we want to play."
