Duckworth into last eight of Tata Open

Australia's James Duckworth has reached the quarter-finals of the Tata Open in India by defeating Taro Daniel in three sets.

Australia's James Duckworth will face Roberto Marcora in the quarter-finals of the Tata Open Maharashtra in India.

Duckworth, the tournament's No.6 seed, battled back from a set down to defeat Japan's Taro Daniel 6-7 (7-4) 7-6 (8-6) 6-3 to take his place in the last eight.

The 27-year-old will now face Italian Marcora, who inflicted a shock 6-4 6-4 defeat on top seed Benoit Paire.

Qualifier Marcora is ranked 174th in the world and had not won a tour-level match prior to this week.

Duckworth, ranked 100th in the world, will face Marcora on centre court on Friday (0100 Saturday AEDT).
