Jordan Thompson is through to the last four of the Hall of Fame Open after a tough straight-sets victory over Maxime Cressy.

The tournament No.7 seed was made to fight in a tough 6-3 7-6 (8-6) victory against the world No.155.

Both players dished out five aces each and enjoyed a high percentage of winners on first serve, but Cressy was less consistent serving up seven double faults as well.

Thompson, who broke the American's serve twice in the match, was pushed all the way in a tense second-set tiebreaker before clinching victory.

The world No.71 will now meet Jenson Brooksby, who beat Peter Gojowczyk 6-3 6-3, for a spot in the final in search of his maiden ATP Tour title.

Tournament top-seed Alexander Bublik will meet two-time grand slam finallist Kevin Anderson in the other semi-final.

Bublik beat Jason Jung 6-2 6-4 while South African Anderson defeated Jack Sock 6-2 6-3.
