Originally from New Zealand, Damian Browne began his career in 1989 before moving to Australia in 1995, his first Australian Group 1 success coming aboard Chevoit in the 1996 South Australian Derby
Having ridden in excess of 1200 winners Browne's career rose noticeably when he claimed six Group 1 races in the space of two years.
Woorim's Oakleigh Plate success in 2012 started the run followed by Quintessential a few months later in the Queensland Oaks before winning three in a row with Buffering in the Manikato Stakes, VRC Sprint Classic and Winterbottom Stakes.
Browne struck up a relationship with leading Sydney trainer Peter Snowden and the duo claimed back to back Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes with Eathquake in 2014 and Pride of Dubai in 2015.
Browne has had the most success on the Robert Heathcote's trained buffering, the pair combining for seven Group 1 wins, including the Al Quoz Sprint at Meydan in 2016.
