Hall Mark Stakes

Apr 20, 2019 RANDWICK 1200m $161.00 G3 (1:08.61)

Race Synopsis:In a packed finish, the Godolphin-raced gelding Trekking scored his second stakes victory and his sixth win in 17 starts. He settled in sixth place (one off the rails) behind a quick tempo before moving up nicely rounding the home turn. He got to the front at the 100m and then held on well to score by a neck in a quick time (1:08.61). Brave Song settled in last place in the 11-horse field, commenced his move on passing the 300m and then came with a good run for a late-closing second. Redouble began well but then eased from his outside barrier (11) to settle in eighth place. He fanned deep on turning for home and then ran on for a close-up third in a smart effort, resuming here. Viridine was back in ninth place, got a split at the 200m and then ran on nicely for (0.6 lengths) fourth. The favourite Home Of The Brave went to the front but was pressured for the lead (by Miss Cue) and then faded over the latter stages for (1.1 lengths) seventh after a testing trip resuming here.
