Race Synopsis:New Zealand-trained/German-bred stayer Igraine relished the heavy 10 track to win easily here. He was settled in a midfield position (wide) before commencing his move approaching the home turn. He went to third at the 300m, took the lead at the 100m and went on to score decisively. Sopressa went to the front, set quite a good tempo in the conditions and led the field until the latter stages before holding on well to take second. Travistee raced outside the leader and kept fighting on nicely in the straight for third with Exoteric making ground from near the tail of the field for (4.2 lengths) fourth. The favourite Big Duke had a good trip from barrier two, racing in third place on the rails but he was under pressure in the heavy going at the home turn and just battled from that point under his top weight (60.5kg) for sixth, beaten just under five lengths.
