Race Synopsis:Although ridden perfectly, Shadow Hero had to find plenty in the straight but proved the best stayer here to claim his first Group 1, his third win (all stakes) in only six starts. He found a lovely spot, midfeld (rails) and looked comfortable down the back, improving slightly to sit fifth past the 1200m. He crept closer inside the 800m, moved out inside the 600m and was poised to challenge rounding into the home straight. Steadied from the 400m he went after the breakaway leader, took some time to wind up but gradually ate into the lead, levelled up at the 50m then went clear, outstaying his opponents by a length. Castelvecchio was second last at the 1200m, started his run from the 600m, moved out widest turning in but was still third last at the 400m. Out in the middle of the track he kept up a long strong run, doing his best work late but could not catch the winner. Battenburg sat a handy third at the 600m, tried to go with the leader from the 400m, caught him at the 100m but was outgunned to the line for a brave third. Pacemaker Just Thinkin' tried to slip them in the straight but was caught at the 100m yet fought well, not far away in fourth. The first four had the finish to themselves.
