GROUPIES RESULTS – Spring 2021 Final

It’s disappointing that Western Empire was pipped at the post by Regal Power in the Kingston Town Classic, dashing the expectations of bulk of the Groupies who tipped him in this last round of the Groupies Spring Competition.

But it was good news for The Mighty Quinn, the sole tipster for Regal Power, who scored enough points - with some to spare - to overtake Ramses, who looked a sure thing last week, to become Spring Champion for 2021.

The Mighty Quinn and Ramses have been fighting out the top spot on the Leaderboard since Round 10 (Cox Plate) with The Mighty Quinn mostly having an edge over Ramses until last week, when Ramses finally hit the front, courtesy of his tip for Graceful Girl in the Winterbottom Stakes.

Both The Mighty Quinn and Ramses have been in good form throughout the Spring tipping multiple winners and interestingly both failing to score on only 12 occasions.

Jet has held on to third place and Oldman is officially fourth.

Congratulations to you all!

Thanks to all, both old and new players, who participated in the Groupies Spring competition.

The Groupies will resume in early February 2022 for the Autumn season with points scored in the 2021 Spring competition counting towards the 2021/2022 Groupies yearly championship.

In the meantime, best wishes for a Merry Christmas and good fortune in the New Year to all.

The Grand Final of the 2021 Spring Groupies Tipping Competition is upon us and features the Kingston Town Classic.

Western Empire will surely start as hot favourite again and is hard to go past.

Though nothing is certain in racing, an easy 7 points is up for grabs if he wins as expected.

GROUPIES RESULTS Spring 2021 round 16 -  Winterbottom Stakes

Another Group 1 win for Willie Pike, who rode Graceful Girl to a brilliant last to first victory in the Winterbottom Stakes

Groupies tips were wide and varied, mostly favouring Elite Street or Red Can Man, so only two Groupies, Ramses and my good self, tipped Graceful Girl and scored top points this week.

As result Ramses has seized the lead on the Spring Leaderboard and has a 10 point advantage over former incumbent The Mighty Quinn with Jet tailing in third place.

With only one round to go, Ramses looks set to claim the Spring 2021 Groupies Champion mantle, but as anything can happen in racing, a dark horse may emerge to pip him at the post in the last moment.

GROUPIES RESULTS –Spring 2021 Round 15 -  Railway Stakes

Western Empire justified his short priced favouritism, winning the Railway Stakes in a most impressive fashion and marking himself as one to follow in the future.

With Western Empire being the overwhelming Groupies favourite, most managed to score points this round, Richard III registering the top score with his tip for Railway Stakes runner up Comfort Me  who payed more for the place than the winner.

The Spring Leaderboard order thus remains virtually unchanged with The Mighty Quinn still having a slight edge over Ramses.

There are still two Group 1 races to tip, so it isn’t over yet and may well change before the Spring competition is decided.

GROUPIES RESULTS -Spring 2021 rounds 12 to 14

Melbourne Cup/ Oaks / Darley Sprint Classic / Mackinnon Stakes

With hot favourites running true to form, most Groupies scored points this week during the Flemington Racing Carnival.

And what an enjoyable carnival it was with sterling performances from racing stars such as Verry Elleegant in the Melbourne Cup, and Nature Strip and Zaaki on Stakes Day.

Congratulations to Loges2 who was the sole Groupie to tip Verry Elleegant in the Melbourne Cup. For such a quality mare, her odds were astoundingly generous, scoring Loges2 an advantageous 23.5 points. He also scored points, along with most Groupies, for Nature Strip and Zaaki.

RJ1 is also to be congratulated on tipping three winners, the aforementioned Nature Strip and Zaaki, plus Oaks winner Willowy, and Melbourne Cup runner up Incentivise, all of which scored 30.24 points.

The Mighty Quinn still heads the Spring Leaderboard with Ramses now hot on his heels in second place, relegating Jet to third.
