GROUPIES RESULTS - Spring 2019 round 8 - Caulfield Cup

The Caulfield Cup was a tough race assess, so congratulations to Chineseguy and Oldman for finding the winner, Mer De Glace and thus scoring top points for the round.

The collective Groupies, to their credit, tipped the trifecta and first four.

The top echelons of the Spring Leaderboard remain pretty much the same with the leaders failing to score this week, but having accrued enough points in previous rounds, were not troubled by late runners.

GROUPIES RESULTS - Spring 2019 - Round 7

Thousand Guineas / Ladbrokes Stakes / Caulfield Guineas / Toorak Handicap / Spring Champion Stakes

Just about every participant scored points this week, with Jet being the top scorer, tipping three winners - Flit, Fierce Impact and Shadow Hero - plus the second placed Alligator Blood, which accrued him 48.1 points. Great tipping Jet!

Euraman, rejoining the Groupies Comp this week, started with a bang tipping two winners Fierce Impact and Shadow Hero and also Alligator Blood.

Nobody tipped Ladbroke's Stakes winner Cape of Good Hope, the longest odds winner of the week, but The Mighty Quinn was the only other tipster for Fierce Impact, the second top point scorer.

Congratulations also to the three Groupies - Oldtimer, Sydeston & Wilks - who tipped Super Seth in the Caulfield Guineas. That was a close finish with Alligator Blood looking the winner until the last second.

Loges2 is now outright top of the Spring Leaderboard, with The Mighty Quinn knocking Percy1 from second place, a few points behind.

The Groupies Round 7 thread is up and may be problematic to add a comment to, as I did a test comment which failed. I have contacted support who are looking into it, so if you want to place tips wait a while before doing so. If all else fails post them here.

GROUPIES - Spring 2019 round 7 - Caulfield Guineas Day/ Spring Champion Stakes

Thousand Guineas / Ladbroke Stakes / Caulfield Guineas / Toorak Handicap/ Spring Champion Stakes

With five Group 1 races on the cards this weekend, it's another fine opportunity to score points and advance up the leaderboard.

Some of the races appear to have a standout performer, albeit with several likely chances in each. Though of course as has been the pattern this Spring, long shot winners could prevail.

GROUPIES RESULTS - Spring 2019  round 6 - Flight Stakes/Epsom/Metropolitan/Turnbull Stakes

You certainly couldn't go wrong tipping Chris Waller runners this round. It was just a matter of picking the correct horse in the race, which considering the choice of Waller contestants, was a tad difficult in some races.

The highest priced winner was Kings Will Dream in the Turnbull Stakes, tipped by both Pigracer and Todman. Mystic Journey was the popular selection, but had no luck in the running.

Pigracer was the sole tipster for Metropolitan winner Come Play With Me, so ends up top scorer this week, winning points on three of the four races in contention.

Sydeston and The Mighty Quinn also scored points on three races.

Loges2 and Percy1 still share the lead on the Spring Leaderboard, but Pigracer is only a few points behind in second place.

GROUPIES RESULTS - Spring 2019  round 5  - Moir Stakes / Golden Rose / Underwood Stakes

What a strange Spring racing carnival we're having, with this weekend resulting in another 100/1 shot winner in Melbourne, though favourites were successful in the other two Group 1 races.

It's not surprising that nobody tipped Black Heart Bart to win the Underwood Stakes considering his age, and the fact he hadn't won a race for over two years and had been retired until recently.

Loges2, Oldman and Percy1 top scored this week, tipping winners Nature Strip in the Moir Stakes and Bivouac in the Golden Rose, and the second placed Homesman in the Underwood Stakes.

Welcome back to Captain Obvious and Saintly1996 , who acquitted themselves well, scoring 15.2 and 15.1 points respectively on resumption. Also welcome back to Chineseguy who also registered a score first up.

Loges2 and Percy1 share the lead on the Spring Leaderboard, outscoring former leader, De Lago Dude, in this round.
