It was third time lucky for Petrol Power this campaign as he took out the Listed Miller-Placid Ark Stakes. Petrol Power ($3 second favourite) began well and was second early then travelled nicely in third spot, one off the rails following an average early pace (first 600m 36.25). He moved up nicely three wide rounding the home turn, challenged strongly at the 200m point and fought gamely to win by a neck at the post. Debut runner Sujet ($2.70 favourite following an impressive trial win) worked across from a wide barrier (10) to be outside the leader (Super Eighty Eight) at the 700m point. He took the lead shortly after straightening and fought back particularly well for a game (neck) second, putting up an excellent effort at his first race start. Guardlock was seventh on the rails, switched out to be fifth at the home turn and continued to battle on nicely in the straight for a sound third, beaten two lengths. *ANZ
